Tuesday Is Coming

This new layout may look a bit like every other site out there, but it's all new territory for me. I haven't done a pure div/css based before and after reading this tutorial and following up on other small css tutorials I have develop a better understanding of css scripts, classes, ids etc so I feel more confident of my coding. I know now how to code "neater" to be exact and thus this whole place has majorly been tidied up.

The inspiration for this layout come from a whole heap of different sources. First of all the basic colour scheme of Red and Blue from the 2007 film of Sweeney Todd. I never use to like red and blue together but now it's become my favourite colour scheme. Other inspirations from from Evernight (a classmate at Tafe's wonderful site) Day Dream Graphics & Chanlu. Though since then Day Dream Graphics have changed their layout again and it makes me want to change this now. But at lease this is a start on the right path. I'm also proud to have this whole place HTML and CSS Valid. My old layout had way over 100 errors (and I still think the whole validating thing is stupid) but now I've managed properly clean it all up. I've also learnt more about coding from that alone. I'm also pleased that I managed to make Cutenews valid somehow - so many errors were caused by that alone.

Since reading this blog Arcabic Bitches I had planned to clean and organized the site, so you may have noticed now a lot of sections are gone. Mainly the rant type sections, tutorials, responses. There really isn't any need for them on a graphic site. They might be moved to the blog section, or not. If I don't have much time anymore to make graphics and update often, I don't know why I was keen on hosting or participating in contests, so the contest section is now gone. The same goes for giving out awards, decided to lose that as all the sites that have won one have all closed down. About Me has gone, moved the the blog, same goes for Plans and Goals, don't have any anymore. Ichabod1799 is less of a failure when you have no aims for the place. I've also cleaned out all the links, miscellaneous links that have nothing to do with web design and graphics will have been moved to the blog section.

So when you think about it, nothing has been really lost, just more organized, it's part of growing up, and I've had to do a lot of it the past year.

I've re-written every page, cleaned through the wallpapers and removed 21 of them and removed about 8 layouts because they're styles were old now. I've made two new wallpapers, one which is my own original artwork. I hope to make more graphics from my own artworks in the future, my friend Steve suggested that to me and I thought it would be a great idea and make the place more unique. It was also be good practice for editing my works for the workplace.

I have also made a new layout that is also HTML and CSS valid, It's a Lily Allen one. I had plan to make more wallpapers and layouts before I opened this place back up, but I don't have as much time anymore, so I thought I would just add what I have done and then open the site, that way then the site would be alive again and not sitting idle while waiting for another layout to be made.

You may have noticed that Blog link at the top of the site. At the moment it doesn't work, same reason as the lack of updates. In the end I just wanted to get the main site open, I still need to figure out how to code Wordpress themes before I open the blog up, at the moment that area is a mess so there is not point in opening that up yet.

One last thing before we move on. I would like to publicly apologize to Foobar Reviews and some of the harsh things said in Response section. There is not justification for it, I entered my site to be reviewed and that's what they did, they're job. So I might not have agreed with it, and was a little disappointed. So I have removed the responses section because of this. Foobar is actually very good at writing their reviews, and through all the criticism they have suggested ways to improve which I am thankful for, considering how much free time and effort it would have taken to check through every page and coding source.

Now onto Affiliates. yes I am keen on some new affiliates. I'm interested in meeting and getting to know new people and developing new friendships. So some key facts before you go over to the contact page. First of all there isn't any rush, I'm gonna leave the invitation open. This isn't a contest, you don't have to have a billion graphics and an awesome site full of advanced coding and databases. All you have to do is send me your site and your name and of course that you are applying for affiliation and I'll check your site out, if I like it then I'll contact you back, so send me a valid email address. If you don't make it you will automatically be put on the plugs section under the Terms and Conditions that you put a link back on your site. I might also apply to some places as well.

But what are the advantages of being an affiliate? You mean apart from your link in the main nav and gaining more visitors to your site? Well there's developing friendships. I'm very close friends to my affiliates to the point that we all share personal problems that we don't share with family, kinda lame. If you want you also become a staff member on the forum boards. As well as whatever positive things develop from new friendships. 

Well that's pretty much everything, hope you like the new site. Because I slaved months over this. I should be off to bed now, good night and creamy dreams everyone.
